Under commercial activities, maritime trainees of the First Training Squadron (1 TS) visited the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee and interacted with their Sri Lankan counterparts. These exchanges gave trainees from both navies the chance to share experiences and foster professional camaraderie.
As part of community outreach, Indian Navy personnel participated in a beach clean‑up activity, promoting environmental sustainability. The ships were also opened to local community members and Indian expatriates, giving them the opportunity to interact with crew members and learn about the Navy’s training and operational activities.
At the time of departure from Colombo, the First Training Squadron (1 TS) ships conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with SLNSS Nandimithra. The exercise promoted coordinated maritime manoeuvres and enhanced operational coordination and mutual effectiveness between the two maritime forces.
The trip underscored the long‑term maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka and reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to regional maritime cooperation and capacity building in line with a vision of mutual and holistic advancement for security and development in the oceans.
