The 15th meeting of the Narmada Control Authority Review Committee (RCNCA) was held on October 27, 2026 via video conferencing. The meeting was chaired by the Union Water Resources Minister and RCNCA chairman Shri C.R. Patil. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav and Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma were present.

RCNCA accepted the opinion of India’s Attorney General (AGI) and the memorandum of understanding signed on July 7, 2026 in New Delhi by the four states. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Home and Co‑operation Minister Shri Amit Shah and Union Water Resources Minister Shri C.R. Patil. It was accepted as a one‑time settlement of inter‑state outstanding amounts, claims and financial liabilities, and the procedure for payment of the outstanding amount was also approved.

The acceptance of this memorandum of understanding is a historic achievement. It marks significant progress towards ending long‑standing disputes over cost‑sharing for the Sardar Sarovar project among Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, with a one‑time settlement of the pending dues.

Union Water Resources Minister Shri C.R. Patil thanked the chief ministers of the four states for their cooperation in accepting the Attorney General’s opinion and the July 7, 2026 memorandum of understanding and for finalising the payment process for outstanding amounts under NWT Award projects for FY 2026‑27.

He said that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s able guidance every possible effort is being made to resolve inter‑state river water disputes. He also thanked the officials of the concerned states, the Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Conservation Department (DOWR, RD & GR) and the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) for working effectively on the memorandum and for convening the 15th meeting of the RCNCA to confirm it.
