Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd under the Ministry of Coal, presented a special warship model to NCC Navy Unit 1 Bengal, Group HQ NCC Kolkata ‘C’ on Friday in honour of the Indian Navy’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding the nation’s maritime borders
The model, prepared under the guidance of ECL Chairman‑MD Dr Satish Jha, is part of the ‘Kachre Se Kanchan’ drive of Special Campaign 6 and was meticulously designed and built at ECL’s Niyamatpur Central Workshop, reflecting the technical proficiency and craftsmanship of ECL staff while promoting resource reuse and environmental sustainability
On behalf of ECL’s Chairman‑MD, functional directors and the entire ECL family, security chief Major S Tiwari, together with Niyamatpur Central Workshop HR Manager Ms Nischal Sony, handed the model to Indian Navy Commodore Caesar Basu and Commander Sanjeev Saran as a token of appreciation for the armed forces’ service to the nation
This warship model is one of ten distinct models ECL created under the ‘Kachre Se Kanchan’ drive of Special Campaign 6, each conveying a symbolic message on a public‑interest theme and demonstrating how industrial waste can be turned into innovative, meaningful expression
The initiative highlights ECL’s commitment to innovative waste management, recycling and resource conservation, and shows how the technical skill and creativity of its employees can advance circular‑economy principles, environmental protection and sustainable development
The presentation offers a unique way for ECL’s coal miners to thank the Indian Navy, weaving together the values of service, environmental stewardship and national pride from the depths of coal mines to the vastness of the sea
