President Dr. Radhakrishnan Murmu welcomed His Serene Highness Prince Alois and Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 27 October 2026 and organised a banquet in their honour
While welcoming Prince Alois and his delegation, the President said that their regular engagement with India reflects a long‑term commitment to bilateral relations between India and Liechtenstein
The President expressed pleasure that cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, culture and people‑to‑people ties between India and Liechtenstein is steadily growing. She added that in the current uncertain geopolitical and geo‑economic landscape, strengthening economic partnership between the two countries has become more important than ever
The President said that the 2024 trade and economic partnership agreement between India and the European Free Trade Association has opened new opportunities to further strengthen our trade and investment ties. She expressed confidence that a commitment to facilitate US $100 billion of investment in India and create 1 million direct jobs over the next 15 years will lay a strong foundation to expand cooperation in our shared priority areas
The President expressed pleasure that many Liechtenstein companies are keen to expand their collaboration with India in advanced manufacturing, fintech, agricultural research, sustainable infrastructure, healthcare and materials science. She said that by promoting partnerships between industry and academia, the vast potential for skill development and vocational training can be harnessed
She said that by linking Liechtenstein’s expertise in advanced manufacturing, innovation and financial services with India’s skilled workforce, manufacturing capacity and fast‑growing market, we can develop a mutually beneficial partnership
Both leaders agreed that close cooperation between India and Liechtenstein can bring broad benefits to the peoples of both countries. They also agreed that this visit will make a significant contribution to strengthening ties between the two nations
