Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi today inaugurated the new academic building and main entrance of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in New Delhi. He said the new building will help NIEPA expand its national and international programmes and boost its academic and research capacities

The education minister stressed the importance of strengthening institutional infrastructure, saying, “As the Sanskrit saying goes – ‘Shariramadyaṁ khalu dharmasādhanam’ – a healthy body is essential to fulfil one’s duties. Likewise, robust infrastructure is needed to deliver critical tasks effectively. The newly dedicated building will further enhance NIEPA’s capacity to expand its activities, and there is a growing need to accelerate these efforts.”

Joshi noted NIEPA’s role in monitoring the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, identifying challenges and working with state governments to address them. He emphasized moving away from rote learning toward conceptual understanding as envisaged in NEP 2020, cited initiatives such as the PM Vidyalakshmi Scheme that provides easy loans of ₹60,000 crore for higher education, and mentioned digital learning platforms like SWAYAM and DIKSHA. He said SWAYAM has expanded access to quality digital education and resources nationwide, and reiterated the need to equip youth with quality education and relevant skills so they can meet national and global demands and help India contribute more to world welfare.

Present at the event were Higher Education Department Secretary Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, NIEPA Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Rama Shankar Dubey and NIEPA Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Vanjari.
