In October 2026, as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Telecom Cyber Security Incident Response Team (T‑CSIRT) organised a webinar on cyber fraud, cyber attacks and cyber hygiene. The webinar was inaugurated by Telecom Director‑General Mr Anil Kumar Gupta and Additional Director‑General, DGT headquarters Mr Suresh Puri, in the presence of DDG (T‑CSIRT) Mr Yashwant Kumar. Dignitaries stressed that, with the scale and sophistication of cyber threats rising, individual vigilance is crucial, and proactive digital security remains the first line of defence in embedding cyber hygiene into personal, organisational, social and national cultures.
The Telecom Department headquarters and licensed service areas (LSA), NCA‑T and NCCS, together with more than 190 participants – including telecom service providers (TSP) and internet service providers (ISP) and other industry stakeholders – attended the session. T‑CSIRT experts covered cyber fraud and cyber hygiene, social engineering and the cyber kill‑chain, types of malware and common website attacks, and gave practical insights on how attackers operate, how such threats can be detected and how they can be countered.
The session highlighted the need for vigilant digital systems, covering awareness on preventing phishing and fraud, safe handling of links and attachments, timely software updates and rapid reporting of cyber incidents. The Telecom Department reiterated its commitment, through continuous cyber‑awareness initiatives, to building a secure nation and safeguarding India’s digital future.
