Assembly Speaker Mr. Vasudev Devnani unveiled the statue of Saint Bhagat Kanwar Ram Sahib at the Shivala in the Sindhi colony of Kishangarh on Sunday. During the event he lit a lamp before a picture of Lord Jhulelal and performed worship, and draped the statue with garlands.
The unveiling ceremony was conducted by the Sindhu Seva Committee and was attended by several local community representatives. Mr. Devnani said that Saint Kanwar Ram Sahib was a symbol of social harmony, goodwill and humanity, having devoted his life to serving the poor, orphans and widows.
Life and teachings of Saint Kanwar Ram Sahib
Saint Kanwar Ram Sahib was a great Sufi saint and a true devotee of humanity. He spent the money received during satsang and devotion on helping the needy instead of personal use, making his life an example of service, sacrifice and brotherhood.
According to the Sindhu Seva Committee, installing the statue is an important step to convey his ideals to future generations. The committee thanked the Tarani family for providing space to install the statue within the Shivala premises.
Tribute on Martyrdom Day
Saint Kanwar Ram Sahib’s martyrdom day is observed on 1 November 1939, which the Sindhi community commemorates each year with devotion and reverence. On this occasion Mr. Devnani attended the martyrdom day programme at the Sant Kanwar Ram Dharamshala in Ajmer and offered Aarti.
