• Voter awareness programme held in Nechwa, Sikar district in the presence of the State Election Commissioner, thousands swore to vote
  • School students conveyed a 100% voting message through human chains, cultural performances and awareness rallies

Jaipur, 26 October — A voter awareness programme was organised on Monday at Sunrise School, Nechwa, Sikar district, in the presence of State Election Commissioner Shri Rajeshwar Singh. Thousands of school students, youth, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and the general public participated enthusiastically. Attendees pledged to exercise their franchise and encourage more voters to vote. Commissioner Singh also planted a sapling under the ‘One Tree for Democracy’ campaign.

During the programme, school students raised awareness among the public by forming human chains, displaying various artworks and holding placards with voting messages. They explained the importance of voting through cultural performances and voter‑awareness songs.

At the event, State Election Commissioner Shri Rajeshwar Singh administered the voter oath to the participants and appealed to everyone to obligatorily use their franchise to strengthen democracy.

He then gave the green flag to the voter‑awareness rally and sent it off. Students in the rally conveyed the message to locals to vote in larger numbers through various slogans and chants.

Youth become aware of their rights and duties — Rajeshwar Singh

State Election Commissioner Shri Rajeshwar Singh said that the youth must become aware of their rights and duties and actively participate in the democratic process; only then can the nation’s future become brighter and more developed. He added that the true meaning of democracy is a civilized and cultured society resolving its differences peacefully and with dignity.

The State Election Commissioner said voters should, without succumbing to any undue inducement and rising above caste and religion, choose representatives who are qualified, committed, thoughtful and well‑aware of local issues. Such representatives should be dedicated to solving public problems and capable of working actively on the ground for the people’s benefit.

He said that along with selecting representatives, maintaining brotherhood, harmony and social cohesion in villages, areas and districts is also extremely important. Many candidates contest elections, but only one wins. Therefore, everyone should accept victory or defeat graciously and participate with a sporting spirit.

He said that just as children play games with sportsmanship, adults should also learn from children, demonstrate maturity and preserve mutual relations and social harmony during elections.

He explained that voters can cast their vote using, besides the voter ID card, any of the 11 alternative identity documents prescribed by the Election Commission. He added that to increase voter turnout, the Commission is continuously organising voter‑awareness programmes through sweep activities so that every eligible voter can ensure participation in this democratic festival.

The programme was attended by District Election Officer Shri Ashish Modi, District Police Superintendent Sanjeev Nain, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council and sweep in‑charge Rajpal Yadav, Sub‑division Officer Ashish Sharma, Development Officer Roma Saharan, along with other officials, teachers, students and a large number of the public.
