Jaisalmer/Jaipur, 28 October – State Election Commissioner Shri Rajeshwar Singh said that in the fourth phase of the Panchayati Raj General Elections‑2026 each voter should be able to exercise the franchise in a fear‑free, independent and fair environment. He urged all officials and staff involved in the election process to work with utmost seriousness, vigilance and responsibility. He stressed that the Election Commission’s guidelines must be followed verbatim and that all arrangements related to polling and counting be completed on schedule.

Commissioner Singh, addressing a meeting at the Jaisalmer District Collectorate Hall on Wednesday, reviewed fourth‑phase election preparations and issued these directions. He said that necessary arrangements must be ensured at all polling stations and adequate security personnel deployed. Timely transport of polling teams to their destinations, their accommodation and other logistical needs should be effectively prepared so that the election proceeds smoothly.

Emphasis on basic facilities and security at polling stations

The State Election Commissioner directed that drinking water, electricity and lighting, toilets, cleanliness and ramps be properly provided at polling stations. While reviewing poll‑team training, he said that personnel appointed for the election should be thoroughly briefed on the voting process, duties and prescribed guidelines to prevent any problems on polling day.

He instructed heightened vigilance at sensitive and critical polling stations and deployment of additional police personnel as needed. Area Magistrates and sector officers were asked to make regular visits to monitor arrangements and pay special attention to sensitive centres. He reviewed EVM security and directed that staff involved in counting receive appropriate training. He also took note of facilities provided for differently‑abled voters.

Control room to remain fully active; exercise extra vigilance in border areas
