During a hearing at Jodhpur HC on Monday, a young man attempted to hang from balcony over his intention to leave with the young woman’s relatives. A lawyer caught him on the spot, preventing a fall.
During the hearing, the young woman expressed her wish to leave with relatives. Enraged, 22‑year‑old Arbaaz Khan of Ganganagar tried to jump from balcony.
Background of the hearing
The case was pending under a bail‑petition, which also discussed the alleged forged marriage certificate of the young woman. Judge Munni R. Laxman and Judge Chandraprakash Shrimali heard the case.
Per legal advice, the young woman was presented to the State Women’s Home in Jodhpur, where the consultation report recorded her wish to leave with her aunt. The court ordered her custody to be given to aunt Devi.
Next hearing and police action
Police have arrested Arbaaz Khan on charges of disturbing the peace. The next hearing will be on 20 November, where the authenticity of the forged marriage certificate will be examined.
