Under the direction of District Collector Kana Ram, the Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, Mohit Kasaniya, held a meeting of departmental officials to discuss preparations for the ‘Run for Unity’ programme to be held on 31 October on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The chief executive officer said that a rally will be taken out on 31 October at 7 a.m. from Dussehra Maidan to Circuit House. He instructed officials to ensure drinking water and other necessary arrangements for participants and to be present at the venue on time. He also directed the district sports officer, in coordination with the municipal council, to ensure the conduct of the programme, to involve volunteers and athletes, and to establish coordination among the concerned departments. The police department was asked to deploy police patrols on the rally route to maintain law, security and traffic management.
In the meeting, he asked the chief district education officer to ensure participation of secondary‑level students and to appoint PTI teachers. He instructed the state postgraduate college and the women’s college to involve students and NSS volunteers. He also asked to ensure the presence of about 100 volunteers from the My Bharat Centre and Scout Guides.
