Jaipur, 29 October. Governor Shri Haribhaau Bagde inaugurated the 33rd Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology on Thursday. He said the human brain and nervous system are among the most complex structures of life, and disorders affect not only patients but also families and communities. He noted that about 25 lakh people in India suffer a stroke each year, no longer limited to the elderly but rising rapidly among youth due to poor lifestyle.
Shri Bagde, while discussing Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other neurological disorders, urged doctors to promote awareness for timely diagnosis, specialist treatment, ongoing research and compassionate care for nervous system diseases.
The Governor said modern lifestyle and hectic pace‑induced stress are major causes of neurological disorders. He highlighted the latest medical technologies for treating intractable neurological diseases and advised incorporating yoga and pranayama alongside traditional Indian medicine. He added that worldwide evidence now shows regular yoga, pranayama and meditation reduce mental stress.
Shri Bagde praised the neurology services of SMS Hospital and medical colleges in Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Bikaner as exemplary, and lauded state‑government efforts.
