District Collector Abhishek Surana on Sunday, 1 November, held the district‑level inauguration and oath‑taking ceremony for the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week at the district headquarters’ Nature Park in Churu.
The ceremony highlighted seven key themes such as water conservation, energy saving, minimal plastic use, waste management and tree planting.
Program details
According to DFO Sandeep Kumar of the Information and Public Relations Department, the week will run from 1 to 7 November 2026 and is based on the Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment) spirit under India’s 2026 BRICS presidency.
The first‑day theme ‘Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle’ was set and Scout‑Guides organised a awareness rally from the Nature Park to DB General Hospital, delivering messages on environmental protection, cleanliness and sustainable living.
Key points of environmental protection
- Water conservation – pledge to save every drop
- Energy saving – avoid unnecessary electricity use
- Minimal plastic use and reduction of e‑waste
- Waste management – reduce waste and recycle
- Tree planting – expand green cover
The District Collector said that in a desert district like Churu these measures are especially important and that small changes by each citizen can have a big positive impact.
What’s next
The DFO appealed to attendees to take active part during the week and to adopt eco‑friendly habits beyond the campaign in their daily lives.
