The proposal to alter bus movements in Jaipur during Diwali from 3 to 9 November was withdrawn, and it was decided to keep roadways and private buses operating from Sindhi Camp as before. The decision came after a debate between traffic police, roadway officials and private bus operators.

Traffic police initially planned to run sleeper buses from four outer stands outside the city, which would have required passengers to travel an additional 20 km. However, roadway and private bus operators opposed the move, saying their passengers’ bookings and pick‑up points are at Sindhi Camp.

The old arrangement was retained after the opposition.

Roadway officials said Sindhi Camp is the main bus stand for passengers across the state and operations should continue from there. Praveen Nayak, DCP Traffic, explained that shifting buses outside would force passengers to travel from the railway station to other stands, incurring extra fare and connectivity problems.

Rakesh Rao, manager of Sindhi Camp, said, “This arrangement will not be implemented. Talks have been held with roadway officials. Private and roadway bus services will continue as before.”

Key points of the earlier proposal

  • Sleeper buses not to enter the city from 3‑9 November.
  • Outer stands: Transport Nagar (Bajri Mandi), Heerapura (Bhanakrota), B‑2 Cloverleaf (Old Bypass), Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium (Sikar).
  • Objective: Reduce traffic congestion during Diwali.

Both roadway and private buses will now operate from Sindhi Camp, so passengers need not change their existing booking or pick‑up points.
