At the Mahajan town CHC in Bikaner on Saturday afternoon, 26-year-old Komal Ojha delivered a son but died an hour after delivery
The family says no doctor was present at the time of delivery, and a female nurse performed the delivery. When Komal’s condition worsened, no doctor arrived, leading to her death
Relatives staged a protest outside the hospital demanding action. CMO Dr. Pukhraj Saadh arrived on the scene, but the family’s protest continued into the night
Family’s allegation
Gajanan Ojha, Komal’s father, said a similar protest over doctor shortage was held six months ago, after which two doctors were appointed but did not attend regularly, so there was no doctor this time either
The family is demanding a full inquiry into the incident, a review of staff present during delivery and action against those responsible
Hospital response
CMO Dr. Pukhraj Saadh said contract doctors are posted at the CHC but were not present in the morning. He added that action is underway to remove absent doctors and recruit new ones
He said a probe into the death caused by doctor absence will identify the responsible parties
- Komal Ojha (26) – mother, died an hour after delivery
- Newborn – healthy
- Location – Mahajan CHC, Bikaner
- Main allegation – no doctor, nurse delivered alone
