23-year-old Amit from Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh has successfully overcome drug addiction with the help of the District De-addiction Centre (DDAC). According to a government press release, rehabilitation services provided by this centre have given a new direction to his life.
Despite being a graduate, Amit was facing physical, mental and economic challenges due to drug addiction. This also had a negative impact on his professional life and family relationships.
Help received from the rehabilitation centre
Under the services of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, he received assistance from the Sultanpur District De-addiction Centre (DDAC) on 30 May 2025. The centre provided him with medical treatment, timely medicines, safe accommodation, nutritious food and vocational guidance.
Along with medical care, he also received emotional and psychological support through counseling sessions, yoga and regular interaction with the staff.
Positive change in life
Due to regular counseling and the supportive environment of the centre, Amit's health improved and his self-confidence returned. He has resumed his regular work and is moving towards becoming financially independent.
