The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is making special efforts to collect, segregate and dispose of electronic waste (e‑waste) effectively. Aimed at institutionalising ‘cleanliness’ and promoting efficient resource management, the activity is being run as part of ‘Special Campaign 6 for Disposal of Pending Cases’ (SCDPM 6).
Under the campaign, 5,337 old and e‑waste items have been identified for disposal. These old/e‑waste items are being disposed of through auction, generating revenue and ensuring better utilisation of available space. So far the disposal process has yielded revenue of ₹11,40,220/- and has freed up about 600 sq ft of space.
The campaign places special emphasis on systematically identifying old electronic equipment, segregating it and disposing of it responsibly, while also ensuring better utilisation of office space and improved workplace arrangement.
Through these continuous efforts, the ministry reaffirms its commitment to cleanliness, environmentally responsible waste management and efficient administrative practices under ‘Special Campaign 6’.
