On October 25, an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the agriculture department and the Brahmakumari Institute at the Shantivan campus in Aburod.
Agriculture Commissioner Shri Naresh Kumar Goyal, on behalf of the department, and B.K. Sarla, chair of the agriculture and rural development division of the Brahmakumari Institute, concluded the agreement.
Plan for training and capacity building in natural farming
Under the MOU, training camps, workshops, exhibitions and awareness drives on natural and sustainable farming will be organised for farmers across the state’s districts.
Farmers will be provided practical information on maintaining soil fertility, water conservation, climate‑smart agricultural techniques and sustainable farm management.
Training programmes on new natural‑farming methods and effective extension activities will also be held for agricultural staff, creating master trainers.
Aburod’s Tapovan to become a centre of excellence for yogic natural farming
A key feature of the pact is to develop Tapovan in Aburod as a Centre of Excellence for yogic natural farming.
The centre will serve as the main hub for training, demonstrations, research, knowledge exchange and capacity‑building activities in natural farming.
Focus on mental health of agricultural officials
Under the MOU, programmes on Rajyoga, meditation and other training will be conducted to promote mental health, stress management, efficiency and a positive work culture among department officials and staff.
Duration and work plan of the agreement
The agreement will be effective for three years and may be extended by mutual consent of both parties.
Both sides will appoint nodal officers and prepare an annual joint work plan covering the number of trained farmers and staff, training programmes conducted and progress in adopting natural farming.
