A serious case has been uncovered involving the preparation of fake bail orders in the name of the Rajasthan High Court to benefit an accused. The court has ordered an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to get to the bottom of this fraud.

The Jodhpur Police Commissioner has been asked to form an SIT led by a DSP-rank officer, which will also include cyber crime experts. The SIT will have to submit its investigation report to the court every fifteen days.

Orders with dates found to be fake

During a hearing before the bench of Justice Chandrashekhar Sharma on November 5, a petition was being heard regarding the extension of bail for accused Kalvinder Singh Panesar. During this, three alleged bail orders dated October 12, 15, and 26 were placed before the court.

Upon matching with judicial records, it became clear that this case was not even listed in the court on these scheduled dates, nor was any order issued by the concerned bench. Following this, all these documents were declared fake.

Registrar lodged FIR

After this fraud came to light, High Court Judicial Registrar Narendra Kumar registered a case at the Kudi Bhagtasani police station in Jodhpur. The court has made it clear that tampering with judicial documents affects the credibility of the institution.

During the hearing, it also came to light that the accused was granted 30 days of interim bail on May 6 for his wife's surgery, in lieu of which Rs 2 lakh had to be deposited. Despite the expiry of the period, he did not return to jail on June 9, after which his bonds were cancelled and arrest warrants were issued.
